Singapore Live UV Index
A note on the UV (Ultraviolet) Index above: readings at UV 6 and above are when eye protection becomes particularly important. At UV 8 and above, unprotected eye exposure during peak hours is not advisable. Check the live index before you head out.
What UV Does to Your Eyes
Singapore's UV Index regularly hits 11–13 during midday — classified as Extreme. That's not just a skin concern. Cumulative UV exposure is a leading contributor to cataracts, macular degeneration, and pterygium, a fleshy corneal growth especially common in equatorial populations.
Darker lenses without UV400 protection are actually worse than nothing — they cause your pupils to dilate while filtering nothing. Always look for UV400-rated lenses that block the full UVA and UVB spectrum.
All Sunday Shades lenses are UV400 protected, close-fitting, and built for Singapore's outdoor conditions. Protect your eyes every time you step out.
