Sunday Shades at Paralympic Day 2026: Sun, Sweat and Plenty of Smiles
Paralympic Day 2026 may be over, but we're still smiling about it.
On 29 August, Angsana Green at East Coast Park came alive as Singapore came together to celebrate our para athletes ahead of the Asian Para Games in Nagoya. From the Grand Opening Ceremony and 3km Walkathon to para sports tryouts including boccia, blind football and sitting volleyball, there was plenty happening throughout the day.
And yes, it was hot. Very hot. But that didn't seem to stop anyone from having a good time.
A Hot Day, A Happy Crowd
Singapore's sun doesn't exactly believe in taking it easy, and 29 August was no exception.
Families made their way around the different activities, kids had a blast at the pony feeding corner and castle, and the walkathon crowd kept things lively well after the 10:30am flag-off.
Over at the Sunday Shades booth, we had our own little corner of fun going on. We ran a few games throughout the day, and it didn't take long for some surprisingly serious competition to break out. Nothing like a little friendly rivalry to make a hot afternoon more interesting.
New Faces, Familiar Ones
One of our favourite things about these events is seeing who turns up.
Some visitors already knew Sunday Shades from previous events or had picked up a pair online. Others were meeting us for the first time — often after spending a good part of the day squinting into the Singapore sun.
Everyone who stopped by got a chance to play, and all left with a prize, a smile and, hopefully, a little more shade for the rest of the afternoon.
We'll take that as a win.
Why We Keep Showing Up
For us, supporting SNPC isn't about showing up for just one event. It's about being part of the community and showing our support for the athletes who put in the hours, push themselves every day and represent Singapore on the world stage.
We may not be the ones competing, but we can certainly cheer from the sidelines.
