Paddles Up, Shades On: CIS Alumni DB Team Opens 2026 at the Kellet Island Cup

There are race venues, and then there's racing in the shadow of one of the world's most iconic skylines. The Chinese International School Alumni Dragon Boat Team kicked off their 2026 season in seriously style — and they did it with Sunday Shades on.

The Setting? Unmatched.

The Kellet Island Cup, held at The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club in Causeway Bay, isn't just any season opener. It's the only race on the calendar that puts you right in the heart of Victoria Harbour, with Hong Kong's legendary skyline rising up behind you as you paddle. If you're going to announce your return to the water, this is the way to do it.

How'd It Go?

First race of the year, first adrenaline hit of the season — and the team came out firing. The CIS Alumni DB Team raced to first and second place finishes in their respective heats, looking every bit the part with their Sunday Shades keeping the harbour glare where it belongs: out of their eyes and off their game.

Did they make the finals? Just missed it. But here's the thing — the smiles in the boat and on the dock told a different story. This is a team that knows exactly where they're headed, and the Kellet Island Cup showed real progress. Season opener energy, locked in.

What's Next for the CIS DB Crew?

After taking on the Deep Water Bay Regatta on 12 April, the team is deep in training mode with their eyes on a big one — the iconic Lamma 500 on 26 April. One of Hong Kong's most beloved dragon boat races, it's the kind of event that draws serious crews and serious crowds. You can bet the team will be ready.

We're proud to have the CIS Alumni Dragon Boat Team repping Sunday Shades on the water this season. Harbour wind, competition heat, full squad energy — that's exactly what these shades were built for.

Stay shaded, SundayShaders. 🕶️
